Robert Morris University issued the following news release:

Robert Morris University (RMU) will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its sport management program, including the induction of the first three members to the program's Hall of Fame, during the University's third annual Sport Management Conference, taking place Friday, Oct. 27, 2006. Designed to provide a better understanding of the sports industry and assist students in planning and developing a career within their university studies, the conference allows students to learn from and interact with senior level sport management and marketing executives from across the industry, who this year will include representatives from the Pittsburgh Penguins, U.S. Open, Orlando Magic, Altoona Curve, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, New Orleans Hornets, and Buffalo Bills, among others.

Hank Steinbrecher, president of TouchLine Consultants, Inc., and former secretary general and executive director for the United States Soccer Federation, will open the conference with the talk 'The Game Outside the Game: The Business and Politics of Sport.' With the United States Soccer Federation from 1990 to 2001, Steinbrecher was responsible for the U.S. national teams as well as the management of all U.S. Soccer business affairs, and piloted the group's efforts to successfully host two World Cups and two Olympic soccer competitions.

In 2001, Steinbrecher founded TouchLine Consultants, Inc., an international sports marketing and management consulting firm specializing in organizational management and product placement through global sport. His accomplishments include a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Honor Award and a 2005 induction in the National Soccer Hall of Fame. He is a lifetime member of U.S. Soccer. In addition to his roles with TouchLine and U.S. Soccer, Steinbrecher has also directed the sports marketing activity for Quaker Oats' Gatorade brand and served as chief operating officer for iSe-Hospitality AG.

The Sport Management Conference is sponsored by the sport management program through RMU's School of Business, one of the first such academic programs in the United States. The conference is open to students and faculty from sport management programs at RMU and other institutions throughout the region.
